BSLA RR Microgrants are specifically designed to provide immediate assistance to Black Altadena and Pasadena area families and communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the 2025 wildfires. African Americans comprise approximately 20% of the Altadena population and began buying homes in the region after the dismantling of racist restrictive covenants with the 1948 Shelly versus Kraemer SCOTUS decision argued by African American attorney Loren Miller. Microgrants of up to $200 are available to assist with housing/rent, relocation, food, clothing, utilities, child care and other vital needs.
