We’re pleased to announce that Black Skeptics L.A. is among 26 organizations that were awarded Performing Arts Grants this year! The Culver City City Council awarded these organizations $200,518 for the 2026 Performing Arts Grant Program for presentations of music, theater and dance events. The Cultural Affairs Commission and staff have implemented Culver City’s Performing Arts Grant Program since its inception in 1994. A Peer Review Panel consisting of eight independent individuals, with professional performing arts expertise and non-profit arts experience, scored the applications. Individual grants will range from $4,000 to $8,000 per organization.
“Our City is a vibrant destination with many opportunities to participate in arts of all kinds. Our grant program is proud to support a variety of stories and experiences,” said Mayor Freddy Puza. “By showcasing a wide array of music, theatre and dance we can create new opportunities for connection and belonging. There is truly something for everyone on our stages in 2026.”
BSLA’s award will go towards the development of a #Standing4BlackGirls Music and Poetry festival in July 2026 at the Glorya Kaufman Center in Culver City. The event will feature performances by guitarist Malina Moye and more.
