Alpha Centauri: Film Screening and Discussion Features Black Freethinker Protagonist
WLP’s sixth annual Black LGBTQIA+ Youth institute will focus on mentoring, career readiness, leadership and mental health for Black queer youth in middle school, high school and college. Youth facilitators and mentors will present workshops on allyship, artmaking and chosen family and moderate a mentoring panel featuring Black LGBTQ+ educators and artists, Dr. David Green (CSULA), Peta Lindsey (UCLA), Dalena Sanderson-Hunter (UCLA), Donnie Hue (independent filmmaker) and Danni Cassette (singer-actor). The event will also feature a voguing dance workshop by Jet Finley and an art workshop led by WLP artistic director Bri Parnell.
