  • This award is available to students who attend the Los Angeles Unified School District and are accepted into two or four-year colleges regardless of if they are secular or religious. Preference is given to students of color (Black/African American, Latino(a), Asian/Pacific Islander, Native American) who are (or have been) in foster care, homeless, undocumented, group home or System-Involved, and/or LGBTQ.

    BEFORE COMPLETING ONLINE APPLICATION, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS READY TO UPLOAD:

    1. Your two to three paragraph essay (between 400 – 700 words) on the following topic: Humanism is based on the belief that every human being should be treated equally regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, class, and disability status. Human beings, not gods, are solely responsible for creating social change. What issue(s) are you passionate about addressing in your community and how might Humanism make a positive difference in creating social change? (Include in your essay if you are (or have been) in foster care, homeless, undocumented, group home or System-Involved, and/or LGBTQ.)
    2. A letter or recommendation from an advisor/teacher that includes your participation in school and/or community-based organizations. You can attach a separate page listing your participation in school and/or community-based organizations if you prefer.
    3. A copy of your Admission letter to your 2 or 4 year college
